In 2000, Barry Andersen began development of the Eco-flap and later after its official patent, incorporated in 2005.  "We first went out with our flaps that we run and the truck got 6.5mpg. We came back to the shop and they switched out our flaps to the Eco flaps. Did the same route, same day, and mpg went to 7.0mpg. Came back and switched them out again and it went back to 6.5mpg.

We then took a few trucks that are on dedicated runs (that) do the same thing every day, every month etc. and they truly went up 1/2 mile per gallon. We did see an increase of 1/2 mpg with both truck & trailer having them on. I'm sure it's something if one or the other has them, but to see the real savings, both having them on works.
